“I don’t do anything to attract attention, but to arouse emotions…” C215 is a nomad urban
artist who puts up his stencils in Berlin, Amsterdam, Jerusalem, Casablanca, New Delhi,
Istanbul… Without words nor commentaries, C215 throws to the face of the world the image
of all who suffer from social exclusion, poverty, loneliness. In order to do that, he shows their
faces. And to kill two birds with one spray, he questions the passerby and gives some dignity
back to the underprivileged of the contemporary urban societies. C215 aims at the universal.
His dialectic? Humanity in the inhumanity, hope facing despair. Thus men with no direction
home in Paris or the homeless of New York, the Indian shoe-shines boys, the street children
in Sao Paulo will be their models.
This book of Opus Délits introduces the work of the French wonder boy of stencil: C215. His
unique style, precise and precious, leaves its mark on passerbys all over the world.
